Golf the Old Fashioned Way
Tee Mac Golf, LLC was formed by three African-American golf professionals who were members of Morgan State University’s 1967 CIAA Championship Golf Team. They have played the game collectively for more than 180 years and in several thousand golf tournaments and events. Their mission is the utilization of their diverse talents to teach youth life skills through the game of golf; and to diagnose and repair diseased golf swings through corporate clinics, seminars, and individual and group lessons. They are most proud of founding the not-for-profit Park Heights Community Golf Range, Inc., an urban family sports complex in Baltimore, Maryland, with the goal of teaching minority youth both athletic skills and entrepreneurial skills to operate the facility. They were awarded state funds and opened two new tennis courts, two new basketball courts, and a tot play lot in 2005, with the plan to incorporate a golf range and learning center.
Tee Mac Golf has given golf instruction, clinics, seminars and exhibitions to hundreds of students. In 2006, they conducted a golf clinic at The 4th Annual In Honor of Our Troops Golf Classic sponsored by MWR. They are recipients of Maryland Governor Robert Ehrlich’s (inaugural) 2006 Living Legends of Sports Award. They are members of Morgan State University’s Alumni Golf Committee. They are also golf tournament consultants to dozens of organizations, including The Reginald F. Lewis African-American Museum of Maryland Legacy Council, and the National Great Blacks in Wax Museum. In 2004, they received the Living Legends Award from the State of Maryland.

~Al Wylie,

“Just before I retired, Al Wilson suggested that I learn to play golf. I was as far away from being an athlete as one could get, so I took this as a joke. But with much, much patience and humor, Al taught me the true fundamentals of the game. He then built upon that strong foundation to continuously increase my skill level. Today, playing golf has enhanced my retirement tremendously. Al is a fabulous teacher and my hero.”
